The United Polaris Lounge at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) officially opened on January 12, 2019. We scored preview tickets to check out the lounge via United MileagePlus events.

Where to Find the United Polaris Lounge at LAX

The Polaris Lounge is located post-security in Terminal 7, between gates 73 and 75A. You’ll see “Polaris” signs leading to the lounge. Take the elevator up to find the lounge lobby.

If you need to take a call, two sound-proof phone booths are available. The phone booths are limited to 60-minutes of use per turn.

I’m a fan of the lounge design. The center of the lounge is a giant circle that leads to the restroom, dining area, and buffet spread.

Dining & Beverages

A fruit and detox water station, along with other beverages is readily available. During certain hours of the day, this area is converted into a fresh juice bar.

The buffet features a wide range of small bites that are ideal for passengers in a rush. If you can’t reserve a spot in the dining room, the buffet is a good alternative.

The dining room at LAX is significantly smaller compared to SFO, but there are also fewer Polaris flights departing from LAX. If you want to experience the dining room, I recommend reserving your spot as soon as you enter the lounge.

The Dining Room features breakfast items and a lunch & dinner menu.

There’s also a dessert menu.

I recommend planning to spend at least an hour in the dining room if you want to order a three-course meal. Plan accordingly.

For the drink, I recommend getting the Paper Plane (pictured above). The power green smoothie bowl was refreshing and surprisingly sweet. I wasn’t a fan of the matcha green tea pancakes because they were too dense. The salmon rillettes bruschetta was good and reminded me of a eggs benedict since it had a poached egg.

Shower Suites, Restrooms, and Quiet Suites

One of my favorite design details of the United Polaris lounge is the LED ceiling in the restroom area.

There are six shower suites available, including one ADA accessible suite. Shower suites are on a first come, first serve basis so be sure to put your name on the list to reserve your spot.

The shower suites have soap and hand cream from Cowshed. Bath towels are from Saks Fifth Avenue. Extra shower amenities like shower caps and hairdryer are available upon request at the shower reception area.

There are two quiet suites available on a first come, first serve basis. If your goal is to take a nap in the lounge, definitely go to the quiet suites first. Each suite has a speaker that plays calming ambient noise, essential oil, chocolate, a bottle of water, and an eye mask. The pillow and blanket is from Saks Fifth Avenue.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the United Polaris lounge was a great experience. Although the lounge is significantly smaller than SFO, it’s well designed to maximize the space available. There are only 5-6 Polaris flights per day out of LAX, compared to the 50+ flights out of SFO. The highlight of the lounge was the super friendly staff that made everyone feel like a VIP. If you have the chance to check out the Polaris lounge, I highly recommend it.
